• Greater awareness of how to address your anger and stress – both your own and others
• Increased ability to understand your feelings and how to express them appropriately
• More power to manage situations in your home and work life
• New skills to help you with relaxation and stress management
Counselling offers a supportive relationship in which you explore any issue at your pace. You are accepted for who you are. It can help you see difficulties more objectively and express your feelings, to help come to terms with new or past experiences. It can be part of a growing process enabling you to change unwanted feelings. Many people see counselling as an opportunity to undertake personal development in a safe environment and it is not necessary to have a ‘problem’ to find counselling useful.
Your initial appointment is an excellent opportunity to establish how much could be achieved through counselling and see if you can work with your counsellor. It is a chance to explore issues that could affect the relationship between you both as well as explore your personal needs. Time will also be spent outlining the process and techniques used in the counselling. Some people seek a short-term contract while others leave it
open-ended. Everything you discuss is confidential between you and your therapist. There are some legal exceptions and this will be clarified with you prior to your agreeing the contract for working together.
Counselling offers you the opportunity to talk about your problems in a confidential environment where you will receive the help and support you require. You can attend a one-off initial counselling session to meet the therapist and decide if what is offered is going to be right for you. You will have an opportunity to talk through your problems and be given an idea of how these issues will be explored if you decide to come for further therapy.
Issues covered: Stress management, OCD, addictions and cravings, anxiety, phobias, childhood trauma, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, feelings of loneliness and isolation, depression, mindfulness, compulsive behaviour, self-development, healing and more…
